Policies Overview

Policies communicate the University's values and expectations to members of the Northwestern community.

There are two types:

  • University Policies: Repository with access to all University Policies, sortable by audience and subject category.
  • School and Unit Policies: Centralized resource providing links to policy pages maintained by Northwestern's schools and administrative units.

Other policy resources:

  • Standards for Business Conduct: A framework for appropriate stewardship of University resources.
  • Faculty Handbook: The Faculty Handbook describes the rights and responsibilities of membership in the faculty of Northwestern University.
  • Staff Handbook: The Staff Handbook contains policy and program information that defines the responsibilities of staff members and the University's commitments to staff.
  • Student Handbook: The Student Handbook describes the expectations for behavior and conduct in the Northwestern community and outlines the procedures to be followed when these expectations are not met. It includes the Student Code of Conduct, the Academic Integrity Policy, as well as other rules, regulations, and policies governing student life.
