Inaugural Facilities Newsletter
Welcome to our first edition of the all-new Northwestern University Facilities newsletter. This publication is written to showcase Facilities support at the University. We hope that this newsletter builds on the sense of community that makes Northwestern a special place. You may have noticed a slight change in our department name, which was previously “Facilities Management.” Because our service lines have recently expanded with the addition of Auxiliary Services, we have broadened our name to simply “Facilities.”
Transforming Northwestern's Athletics Experience
Northwestern Athletics attracts student competitors from across the nation and it is our commitment to match their Facilities experience with the excellence seen in all our University programs. Team Spotlight: Facilities Operations & Maintenance
Northwestern University is comprised of a remarkable 222 buildings spanning both the Chicago and Evanston campuses. Facilities Operations and Maintenance (O&M) oversees and services both campuses throughout the year with support teams working around the clock, seven days a week. The O&M crew, mainly behind the scenes, delivers well-orchestrated service with skilled tradespeople working to support Northwestern’s priorities, mission, and research efforts.
Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day
On the fourth Thursday of each April, more than 37 million Americans at over 3.5 million workplaces participate in Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day. Members of our Facilities team joined the family filled event and brought their children to tag along with them for a day. A tenacious planning committee from Facilities came together to present an engaging and educational Work Day for nearly 103 kids.
