ERM Program Overview

The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program facilitates University-wide risk discussions to identify, discuss, and plan risk mitigation strategies. In doing so, the program supports the university’s strategic goals and capitalizes on opportunities identified through the engagement process. The program seeks to build broad engagement and support of the ERM program across the university.

Program Objectives

  • Ensure key risk areas are current and evolve with the University’s changing operational and cultural environment.
  • Lead and support University leaders’ efforts to articulate broader risk management strategies.
  • Identify and report key University risk areas to executive leadership and the Board of Trustees through the Audit, Risk, and Compliance (ARC) committee.
  • The program strives to support campus leaders to identify key risks to their strategic initiatives, and build a process to ensure those risks are effectively mitigated and accurately communicated to relevant stakeholders.

Program Cycle

Explore the seven key steps that are involved in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating institutional risks on the ERM Program Cycle page.

Board of Trustees ERM Program

The foundation of the program was built through partnerships between the ERM Program, Board Office, Staff Liaisons, and risk subject matter experts. The program’s goal is to develop and deliver focused presentations to Board Committees focused on institutional risks and to utilize special committees or sub-committee structures to engage in deeper discussions on a broad Risk Area.
