Assistant Dean of Medill Graduate Admissions & Financial Aid

Julie Collins, serves as the Assistant Dean, in the Office of Graduate Admissions and Financial Aid at the Medill School at Northwestern University (Evanston/Chicago, Illinois). Julie has also worked in the financial aid offices at the Kellogg School of Management and the Chicago Financial Aid Office at Northwestern University.

Prior to a career in graduate admissions and financial aid, Julie worked in Museum education at the Field Museum of Natural History and Block Museum (Gallery). Julie holds degrees from Western Illinois University, B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in International Relations, and a Ph.D. from DePaul University, Educational Leadership. Her dissertation is titled, Othermothering by African American Women in Higher Education at Predominantly White Institutions: How the Practice Affects Their Professional and Personal Lives.

Julie has one daughter, Zoe, an alum of the graduate journalism program at Medill. She is currently covering sports in Petersburg, VA. Julie enjoys summers, traveling, cooking/baking, reading and live music.
